CantaRode is an international choir festival in Kerkrade, Netherlands, where high-quality chamber and mixed choirs from around the world come together for competition and cultural exchange.

Festival competition
During the previous edition in 2023, the Samford University A Capella Choir won both the highest score and the audience prize. Who will claim victory this year at the 8th edition of CantaRode in 2025? The choir festival welcomes chamber choirs in the categories of equal voices (women’s and men’s choirs) and mixed choirs. Registration for our festival competition is now closed.
In addition to the competitive program, CantaRode also offers a number of educational projects.
The festival brings together choir enthusiasts (both choirs and visitors) from various countries, with a professional organization and an international jury of renowned conductors. It offers a unique experience through top ensembles, innovative programming, and beautiful venues.
Choir Workshop
This unique project gives you the opportunity to perform under the guidance of internationally renowned conductor Jan Schumacher at the Opening Concert of the CantaRode International Choir Festival on May 29 in Kerkrade. In just two days, you will rehearse two impressive music pieces: Mendelssohn’s Psalm 42 and Forrest’s Vanitas vanitatum, bringing them to life with full expression and energy.
Youth Choir Clinic
On Thursday, May 29, 2025 (Ascension Day), this unique day offers young singers, youth choir members, and conductors the opportunity to develop musically under the guidance of renowned conductor Virginia Bono from Argentina. The day will conclude with a spectacular performance during the opening concert of the CantaRode International Choir Festival 2025.
CantaKerkrade: The Singing City!
On Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the center of Kerkrade will be transformed into a vibrant music city during CantaKerkrade: the Sound City SINGS! Following the success of the Sing Along in 2023, CantaRode is once again organizing this grand singing celebration, where choirs, vocal groups, and ensembles from the region and beyond come together.
