Jacksonville State University A Cappella Choir

The A Cappella Choir is the premier choir of Jacksonville State University, performing a diverse repertoire ranging from classical choral music and world music to folk songs, spirituals, and contemporary works. Founded in the 1950s, the choir has a rich tradition and a strong reputation as a vocal ensemble.

Composed of selected students from various fields of study, the choir performs annually on tours and at events hosted by the Alabama American Choral Directors Association and the Alabama Music Educators Association. Recently, the choir made its debut at Carnegie Hall and Spivey Hall and was named a national finalist in the college/university division (smaller program) of The American Prize, a prestigious performing arts competition in the United States.

Conductor
Eliezer Yanson Jr. is a professor of music and conductor at Jacksonville State University in Alabama, where he directs multiple choirs and teaches music. Previously, he was on faculty at Bob Jones University and earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of South Carolina.

As a conductor and educator, he has worked with renowned mentors and presented lectures and workshops in the United States, Bulgaria, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey, and the Philippines. He is a two-time third-place winner of The American Prize in Conducting and has conducted at Carnegie Hall in 2015, 2018, and 2023.
