Southern Chorale is the premier choir of Georgia Southern University. The ensemble is renowned for its artistic excellence and regularly performs at the university, within the community, and at prestigious conferences such as the National Collegiate Choral Organization and the American Choral Directors Association. Since its international debut in 2013, Southern Chorale has received widespread acclaim, with recent victories at the Sing Berlin! International Choral Competition (2022) and top rankings at the Ave Verum ICC in Austria and the International Chamber Choir Competition in Marktoberdorf, Germany.

Conductor
Dr. Shannon Jeffreys is a professor of music, director of choral activities, and assistant dean at Georgia Southern University. She leads Southern Chorale and teaches conducting and music education. Under her direction, her choirs have won top prizes in six international and two national competitions, including double victories at the Sing Berlin! International Choral Competition (2022) and the Conductor’s Award (2019) in Austria. She is an active guest conductor, adjudicator, and speaker and earned her music and conducting degrees from Birmingham-Southern College, the University of Mississippi, and the University of South Carolina.
