Workshop ‘Post Corona Choir Repertoire’

Saturday 22 January 2022

Workshop in Kerkrade, The Netherlands

Many choirs have not been able to rehearse in recent months due to the corona pandemic. Now that society opens up again, including choir rehearsals, how do you begin? What do you start with? Do you simply dust off the old repertoire and pick up where  you left off? Or is now the moment to start something new and innovative?

Saturday 22 January 2021 CantaRode organizes a workshop introducing a new choir repertoire for conductors and singers. Relaxing and singing all day long in this post corona era and enjoying fascinating new repertoire with many surprising compositions by contemporary composers. This day will be concluded with a public presentation of the works that have been practiced during the workshop.

Jürgen Fassbender and Alwin Schronen
During this workshop the internationally renowned musicians Jürgen Fassbender (conductor) and Alwin Schronen (composer) will present twenty new and innovative compositions for mixed choirs and for men’s and women’s choirs. They will also pay attention to vocalization. What happens to your voice if you haven’t sung properly for over a year? How do you start training your voice again?

This workshop will take place on Saturday 11 September 2021 in the Rolduc Abbey in the city of Kerkrade. The program starts at 10 a.m. and will be concluded with the public presentation at 6 p.m. Throughout the day there will be three sessions of two hours each, with breaks in between and a joint lunch. The closing presentation is open to everyone, free of charge.

The main language during the workshop will be English (or German?). Participation fee for this workshop for conductors and choral singers will be €45,- (including lunch and sheet music).
