The female vocal ensemble Cantus Firmus has its base in Schaerbeek and Woluwe-Saint-Pierre (Belgium). The ensemble was founded in 2007. Since that time, the choir members, led by Hélène Richardeau, like to discover new repertoires and mix their voices with pleasure. Cantus Firmus chooses to compare contemporary music and Renaissance music, modern music and classicism and likes to play with the space and the staging.

In April 2016, this vocal ensemble unanimously won the first prize at the International Competition for Sacred Music for youth choirs in Liège. In May 2018, the vocal ensemble was selected for the highest category of the Neerpelt Youth Choir Music Festival. Here the ensemble was the only French-speaking-Belgian choir to defend its colours with talent and enthusiasm and won a second prize. Cantus Firmus regularly sings in the Cathedral of Brussels and in many Belgian choral festivals such as A Chœurs Croisés, Singing Brussels, Ars in Cathedrali, MusiqueS à St Denis, and Concerts spirituels.

Hélène Richardeau – conductor
Hélène Richardeau is a pianist, singer, organist and choir conductor. Her motto is ‘Music and more music’. Hélène divides her time between teaching at the Music Academy of Woluwe-Saint-Pierre and Schaerbeek and the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels. In addition, she participates as a singer in concerts in several renowned vocal ensembles and is organist in prestigious festivals in Belgium and abroad.
